The Main Factors Affecting the Service Life of Tractor Tires

2025-10-09

1. Both over-inflation and under-inflation of tractor tires will affect their service life and are also unfavorable for safe driving. Low tire pressure or overloading will greatly increase the stress and deformation that the tire body bears, intensifying the mechanical friction between the tire and the ground and the internal friction of the tire body, causing tire wear and damage. Over-inflated tires will increase the tensile stress on the tire cord layer and the shear stress between the tire layers, increase the rigidity of the tire body, reduce the contact area with the ground, and deteriorate the tire's performance, leading to wear and damage. The scientific inflation standard should be: based on the standard tire pressure, the tire pressure should be slightly adjusted according to the temperature changes. For example, in summer, it should be 5% to 7% lower than in winter, considering that the temperature is high in summer and the volume of gas expands, increasing the pressure. Conversely, in winter, it must reach the standard pressure or be slightly lower.

2. Abrupt starts, braking, and sharp turns during use will accelerate tire wear, causing tread separation, chunks falling off, and rim damage.

3. Rapidly crossing high and sharp obstacles can easily cause tire cuts, bursts, punctures, and other damages.

4. Long-term high-speed driving. According to the tractor tire's own characteristics, as the vehicle speed increases, the deformation frequency of the tire increases, causing the tire temperature to rise, leading to wear and damage.

5. Poor traction performance on soft ground, especially in paddy fields or on muddy roads after rain, can easily cause slippage and tire wear.

6. Improper toe-in adjustment can cause tire wear.

7. During tire disassembly, assembly, and maintenance, if the operation is careless, the rim and wheel are damaged by prying or dropping, or if sand, stones, and other debris are mixed into the tire before installing the inner tube, it can cause tire damage.

8. Improper parking and storage of tires, exposed to sunlight and oil erosion, can cause tractor tire corrosion and deterioration.
